Two great weeks of college football are in the books. We have seen what teams have separated themselves from the field and are the top teams in college football. I know that it is early, but here are my top 6 teams in college football at this time after two weeks of play. This gives you my four teams that would be in the playoffs if they started today and the first two teams on the outside looking in.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama is not even a question here at number one for me. They blew out Miami in week 1 and followed it up with a blowout against Mercer. They will be at the top spot until they lose a game or if they show a weakness and another team has a great win.
2. Georgia Bulldogs
This is a team that has a chance to take the first spot away from Alabama if they continue to play well. Their defense has allowed only 3 POINTS in their first two games and one of those was against Clemson. Georgia has a great chance to take over the number one sport if their defense continues to be dominant. The SEC is loaded once again this year and they take the first two spots in my top six.
3. Oregon Ducks
Oregon had an amazing performance against Ohio State and that shot them up all the way to number 3 in my rankings. They gave Ryan Day and the Buckeyes their first regular season loss since 2018 and they did it when everyone thought Ohio State would handle them. Oregon is looking like they are a threat to make the four team playoff and make some noise this season.
4. Iowa Hawkeyes
Iowa comes in at the fourth position in my rankings after they beat their in-state rival, Iowa State. The Hawkeyes gets a big win put on their resume to strengthen their case to make the playoff if it comes down to that in December.
5. Clemson Tigers
The Tigers are the first team out of my playoffs despite one loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. They got manhandled by the Georgia defense but that was changed in week 2 against an FCS school. They will be in the conversation for the playoff at the end of the year and that loss to Georgia will not hurt them too bad.
6. Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners were on upset watch in week 1 against Tulane and they absolutely destroyed Western Carolina. This team is still hard to rank since they have not played a quality opponent yet and that will not change next week as they play the Nebraska Cornhuskers who have struggled to find an identity under Scott Frost.
