Top World Series Contenders

The MLB playoffs are approaching fast and that means the contenders are separating themselves from the pretenders. I am going to look at my top 5 contenders for the World Series in the passage below. Tell me who I miss and who should not be on the list at all.

1. San Francisco Giants

The Giants are currently in first place of the NL West and that plays a big part in them being my most likely World Series champion. They have the best record in baseball despite playing in the hardest division in baseball. They have an easier schedule that the Dodgers for the rest of the season which helps them in trying to secure the division title. If they get the division title they will not have to play in the one game Wild Card playoff game and thats a huge win. The Giants have a great pitching staff and they also have a solid offense which could carry them to the championship. If they do not win the division, they could easily fall in these rankings because if they have one bad game they could be eliminated just like that.

2. Tampa Bay Rays

It seems like every single year the Rays find themselves in the playoff picture even with the low salary. They are again the best team in the American League and that is what puts them in the number 2 in these rankings. They have the tools to make another run to the World Series and win it this year. They have also the best record in the American League and they play in a competitive division with four playoff contenders.

3. Los Angeles Dodgers

This is hard putting the Dodgers at number 3 because they are so good but they might have to play in the Wild Card game which could eliminate them. If the season ended today, they would be playing in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals who are red hot. If the reclaim the division lead, then the Giants and Dodgers would flip. The Dodgers have the best pitching staff and that could lead them easily to the World Series coupled with their great offense.

4. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers are fourth on this list because of the easy opponent they should get in the first round in the playoffs. It is pretty much determined that they will be getting the NL East champion and that team will have way less wins than they do. They should have no problem getting into the NLCS and by that time they will be one step away from the World Series. I think they could seriously make a run and win it all in the end.

5. Houston Astros

You can always say that the Astros are cheaters but they are still a great team no matter what they did in the past. They have been continually good for the last few years and they are back again ready to make another run. The Astros are good enough to win another World Series this year and that is what puts them at number 5 as the second best American League team.
