The Carolina Panthers beat the Houston Texans 24-9 on Thursday Night Football. The game started slow with the halftime score being 7-6 but then the Panthers somewhat turned it on in the second half and pulled aways from the Texans.
Sam Darnold is playing solid football for the Carolina Panthers and it continued tonight. He passed for 304 yards and ran in for a touchdown and he was abig part of the offense since Christian McCaffrey went down with and injury which was a problem for the Panthers. The Panthers lost McCaffrey and Jaycee Horn in this game and they will probably both miss multiple games. Horn broke his foot and McCaffrey had a hamstring injury and those are both big blows for the Panthers.
The Panthers defense had another strong performance again tonight and this was while Davis Mills was having a solid first start of his career. It was nothing spectacular, but Mills played mistake free football and gave the Texans some chances in this game. It was a tough first start for him to be thrown in there against this defense so I believe that he will continue to get better while Tyrod Taylor heals from his injury.
This was by far the worst Thursday Night Football game of the young season but it was to be expected. The Panthers were expected to win this one easily but the Texans made it interesting early on. They both will get nice long breaks before their next game and they both probably could use it to heal some injuries before then.
