NFL Power Rankings After Week 1

Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books and here is a look at my top 10 teams in the NFL entering week 2.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (1-0)

Yes, I know that the Buccaneers are the defending champs and won in week 1, but that does not mean they deserve the number 1 spot. The Chiefs beat a better team in week 1 and they have Patrick Mahomes that never makes Chiefs fans feel like they are out of the game.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0)

The Buccaneers narrowly defeated the Cowboys in week 1 and that is what pushed them to number 2 in the rankings. The Cowboys could be an improved team this year but you would think that a Buccaneers team with Tom Brady should have zero problems against the Cowboys. The Cowboys had their chances and had missed opportunities that ultimately gave Tampa the win.

3. Los Angeles Rams (1-0)

The first two teams were easy but here is where the rankings get a little harder. The Rams beat the Bears on Sunday Night Football and fans were able to get their first look at Matthew Stafford in a Rams uniform. Stafford looked very impressive and had a better passer rating in his first game as a Ram than any of the other games in his career. With Stafford and their scary defense, the Rams could be a Super Bowl contender this year.

4. Arizona Cardinals (1-0)

The Cardinals looked very impressive on Sunday by absolutely demolishing the Tennessee Titans who are predicted by many, to win the AFC South. Kyler Murray was electric running around the field making plays and Chandler Jones recorded an amazing 5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

5. New Orleans Saints (1-0)

Now here is a team who nobody thought we would be mentioning this high in the rankings but here we are. The Saints demolished the Green Bay Packers behind 5 touchdowns from Jameis Winston. If Winston can continue playing at a high level and not throwing interceptions, the Saints could be a scary team this year.

6. Seattle Seahawks (1-0)

The only reason why the Seahawks are not higher on this list is because of the subpar second half against the Indianapolis Colts. The Seahawks took a 21- 10 lead into halftime and failed to duplicated that performance in the second half, only winning 28-16.

7. Cleveland Browns (0-1)

The Browns are the first team on this list that has a loss for plenty of reasons. They almost beat the defending AFC champions and if not for a few mistakes, would have probably beat them. The Browns showed that the 2020 season was not a fluke and they can contend in the loaded AFC.

8. San Francisco 49ers (1-0)

The 49ers absolutely demolished the Lions in the first half of their game on Sunday but, the second half was different. The Lions crept their way back into the game late but the 49ers were able to hold on for the win. The only reason they are not higher on this list is because they played the Detroit Lions, who are not predicted to be very good this year.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)

The Steelers did not show up until the second half of the game on Sunday but they ended up beating a Super Bowl favorite, the Buffalo Bills. Pittsburgh's defense is going to be scary but their offense is going to have to find a way and score points if they want to continue to win.

10. Buffalo Bills (0-1)

Despite their loss on Sunday to the Steelers, the Bills still find their way into the top 10. The Bills did not look like the team that made it to the AFC Championship Game as they got pummeled by the Steelers defense. They should still easily win the AFC East but it was a very disappointing performance on Sunday.

Who do you think should be higher or lower on this list. Are there any teams that I missed? Comment down below and vote in the poll that is linked.

  1. As much as I regret. Maybe the Cowboys? Need to get someone better than Elliott as a RB.
